    OUR MISSION

  • to serve as the primary fiscal agent for the Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. by assisting it in obtaining essential resources for its philanthropic programs
  • to collaborate with diverse community organizations on targeted projects that benefit the underserved with life skills and leadership training

    OUR ORIGINS

In 2006, members of the Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and community leaders joined together to form Delta Education and Leadership Training Academy (DeltaEd), a 501 (c) (3) public charity. DeltaEd has two primary purposes: (1) it assists the Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter in obtaining financial resources to support ongoing volunteer community service programs such as mentoring workshops for youth, leadership training, and financial aid for higher education; and (2) it offers life skills training for youth and adults, providing them with the information and tools to make better personal, educational, and career decisions.

DeltaEd’s mission is achieved through volunteers who devote their time, talents, funds and connections toward collaborative efforts to assist community youth in reaching their full potential. It is supported by an experienced Advisory Board of community leaders including:
Congresswoman Shelley R. Berkeley, Hannah Brown, Sandy Heverly, David Jefferson, Dzidra Junior, Fred Keeton and James E. Rogers.

DeltaEd workshops supplement academic education with training on personal life skills such as banking, saving, investment, business and cultural protocol, etc.  Such fundamental life skills have been shown through the body of research to be significant factors in the development of positive, productive lives.

    OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Some of our accomplishments include:
  • community seminars emphasizing personal financial management & job skills
  • securing underwriting for cultural exposure and protocol by sponsoring girls to theater and arts events
  • securing personal banks and financial materials to teach money management to youth
  • securing books and book bags to encourage at home reading for middle school youth
  • structuring full-day life skills seminars for 11th grade students
